Author's Notes: Sequel to "Friends in Strange Places," prequel tosynecdochic's A Howling in the Factory Yard, though it's not necessary to have read Howling first (the coda will make much more sense if you do, however). Set in synecdochic's Broken Wings'verse. This is the COMPLETE, and extensively revised, version of the story formerly titled "Little Pitchers."
