I've made another themed rec list of crossover fic - this time with the theme of crossover family.

Fandoms include The West Wing, X-Men, Buffyverse, Lucifer (TV), Daredevil (Netflix), Doctor Who, MCU, Teen Wolf, Murder She Wrote, NCIS, Dark Angel, and Smallville.

As with my previous list, I will be adding to this as I discover and/or remember more fics that fit the theme. Fics that fit more than one theme will be on more than one list.

I hope you all find something new you enjoy!
Hi! I've made a themed rec list of crossover case fics - crossovers between crime or medical procedurals and speculative fandoms, where the format and focus is on solving a case - over at my journal.

This is one of my favorite genres of crossover fic, and I'm excited to share my favorites with you all. Most of these will be on AO3, but a few are on other archives like A Teaspoon and an Open Mind, or Twisting the Hellmouth.

This list will be updated if/as I discover or remember more fic that fits the theme.

Please come take a look if you're interested!

Fandoms currently include CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS, House, Numb3rs, Law and Order, Buffy, Supernatural, Highlander, Dark Angel, X-Men, Batman, Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Sandman, The Sentinel, Lucifer, Teen Wolf, and Murder She Wrote.

Several years ago I promised selenak that I would write a Beatles story. It took a lot longer than I expected. This is a crossover between Doctor Who, Torchwood and the film Help! (1965), in which the Beatles played a fictionalised version of themselves. While the Beatles (and some other real people) appear in this story, it is the fictionalised versions that are portrayed in this story, not the real people. Major spoilers for Help! if it’s actually possible to spoil a 50+ year old film, and a lot of plot derailing.

This is the first piece of fan fiction I've ever written or published. I would really appreciate any thoughts or feedback. Thank you for taking the time to look at it.

Disclaimer: this is my first post here, so sorry in advance if I'm doing it wrong. Should I be using type:fic or type:rec? And should I be using the reccer tags at all?

I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Or at all, really. I mean, it's a self-insert with Batman, Lady Gaga, and Buffy. So I was all ready for some kind of awful crackfic of doom! But the nice thing about low expectations is that when things turn out to be better than you were thinking, you get a pleasant surprise. Yeah, OK, it is a little cracky. It can't help it, with all of these characters thrown together. But it does have an overarching plot that keeps everything moving, everyone is at least vaguely in character (as far as I can tell), the self-insert hardly gets any screen time at all and isn't the main character, the main character isn't an objectionable Gary Stu, and the writing is competent.

That really sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise, but that isn't my intent at all. If you've ever wanted to get a bunch of your favourite characters together in a room, and watch them interact, you'll understand why I enjoyed this. Unlike most crossovers, it doesn't limit itself to 1 or 2 worlds, and it isn't concerned about only drawing from worlds that are vaguely related. The author made the extremely smart decision to split his vast multitude of characters up into several groups, so each one gets at least a small chance to shine. It also keeps the plot moving forward, and prevents things from devolving into a massive fantasy fandom reunion, where all the characters just get to know each other and nothing ever happens. To enjoy this, you should be at least vaguely familiar with Buffy, Doctor Who, and Batman. If you're not familiar with the rest of the fandoms you should be OK, as the vast diversity of characters assembled in this work gives the author lots of opportunity to explain things without the old "As you know, Bob," standby.
